› schmidtFilm in Kasachstan

schmidtFilm berichtet im Dezember für das mdr Landesfunkhaus Thüringen aus Almaty-Kasachstan über den Abschluss des Deutsch-Kasachischen Jahres.
Anlaß: am 24. Dezember werden der Meininger Theaterintendant Ansgar Haag und die Meininger Regisseurin Kerstin Jabobssen Wagners "Tannhäuser" auf die Bühne bringen. Im größten Opernhaus des Landes erklingt zum ersten Mal Wagner auf kasachischem Boden.
Kasachstan ist der Star unter den Schwellenländern. Die mit Abstand reichste Republik Zentralasiens. Ein Land so groß wie Westeuropa. In dem man an einem Tag alle vier Jahreszeiten erleben kann, vom ewigen Eis der kasachischen Berge bis hin zu den endlosen Weiten der ausgetrockneten Steppenlandschaften. Unter denen sich einige der bedeutendsten Öllagerstätten der Welt befinden. Seit dem Ende des Kalten Krieges bemüht sich Kasachstan um Handelspartner in Westeuropa. Mit Erfolg. Immer mehr Firmen investieren in die Wirtschaft des Staates. Der Öl- und Gasexport boomt. Jährliches Wirtschaftswachstum: 10 Prozent.

Deutschland ist größter europäischer Importpartner des Landes. Kasachstan will jetzt die Verbindungen zu Deutschland intensivieren. Und setzt dabei nicht mehr nur auf Kooperationen in Wirtschaft und Politik, sondern auf einen Bereich, der bisher völlig auf der Strecke blieb: Kultur.

› "Tracking in ruins – ORWO Wolfen"

Wolfen near Bitterfeld: Huge old halls from the prosperous times of the 1920s, faded logos, a museum with shiny original machines, high prefabricated concrete buildings and hundreds of stories. All this reminds of ORWO: “Original Wolfen”, the synonym for photo- and filming material in the GDR.

› "The 10 Commandments"

A 20-minute-video about the art project of the Finnish female artist Tea Mäkipää, "The 10 Commandments". The project can be seen in the Amos Anderson Art Museum, Helsinki, Finland, from 2nd October 2008 till 17th January 2009. There it can be seen due to the occasion of the "Ars Fennica 2008", one of the most important Scandinavian art prizes. Tea Mäkipää has been nominated for this prize.
