Documentation of the concert tour of the Gewandhaus Choir in India

From the 11th of March to the 18th of March the Gewandhaus Choir will travel to India, following an invitation by the Goethe Institute.
The renowned amateur choir, which celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, will, among other pieces, premiere a work by the composer Bernd Franke from Leipzig. In “Pran” Franke uses lyrics of the Indian artist, musician and composer Rabindranath Tagore. The piece can be heard for the first time in Tagore’s birth place in Calcutta. In Bangalore, the choir will sing in front of 2000 people “Pran” again, and, among others, works of Bach and Mendelssohn Bartholdy. schmidtFilm documents the tour on behalf of the Goethe Institute, the Gewandhaus Leipzig and the MDR.
